Life after the Priory Sixth Form

For everyone at the Priory Sixth Form, we are motivated by ensuring our students are successful, both in their studies, and in their personal development.

For more than 600 students across our campuses, their future destination is of paramount importance in enabling them to improve their life chances.

Our nationally accredited careers teams are ready to support our students in preparing them to access their future pathways. This could be into apprenticeships or employment, or into university. We have a team of dedicated careers advisors who are on hand to meet with students, exploring options available, and offering impartial and unbiased information, advice and guidance.

We also have a specialist UCAS Lead, ensuring that we remain cutting edge, in terms of the support we offer to students whose aspirations are to progress into university level courses. The process of completing a personal statement for a university application is taken very seriously and considerable advice and support is given. There are opportunities to gain interview experience with a range of staff who specialise in different subject interviews.

Through Priory Apprenticeships, students have the opportunity to progress from their post-16 courses into apprenticeships. We will also support students who wish to apply to higher and degree apprenticeships with other businesses. The apprenticeship programmes we offer can be viewed in our prospectus, and for school leavers at 18, there are additional apprenticeships available to students.

To ensure that T Level (and A Level) students have university-progression opportunities, we have worked closely with our partner, the University of Lincoln, to ensure that our T Level courses are tailored to meet their entry requirements onto degree programmes.

Students are encouraged to participate in experiencing the workplace whilst they study with us. We work proactively with industry to provide students with these opportunities, whether that be through industry placements, or visits to the workplace. We are very proud of our work experience offer, which has included visits to RAF Waddington, Pepsico, Wilkin Chapman, Harlaxton Engineering, Lindum, Lincoln City Football Club, and many more businesses.

For those wanting to move into higher education, we guide students towards the relevant opportunities for them. Many opportunities occur during Year 12 & 13 when students can apply for Summer Schools and attend University Open Days.

Throughout the two years, we provide guidance for potential early-entry students on how to strengthen their application through additional reading and research. They have access to advice on completing courses such as UCAT (University Clinical Aptitude Test), STEP, LNAT (Law Aptitude Test), etc. As the number of these courses which some students have to complete grows, we work to provide them with the support they require.

Just as important as personal statements, is ensuring that students leave our Sixth Form with a strong CV, an understanding of what makes a strong application form, and having had interview practice. We pride our careers provision on making sure students are work-ready once they have completed their courses, in addition to having the necessary qualifications to access the next steps in their academic journey or into their careers.
